Setting up Eudora 4.0

Before you begin, you must have an e-mail account set up. In our example, the email account name will be Mark. The password will be music. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your Internet web browser, do the following:

• With Windows Explorer, navigate to program files, then to the Qualcomm directory. Double click on the directory and expand it.
  
• create a short cut to eudora.exe. Drag the short cut to your desktop.
  
• Double click the Eudora shortcut and you will be on the Welcome screen for the Eudora wizard. Click "Next"
  
• Click on the radio button labled "Create a Brand New Email Account"
  
• Enter your name. Most people use their first and last names
  
• Enter your email address, i.e. mark@megapipe.net.
  
• Enter your login name. In our example that is "mark."
  
• Enter the name of the incoming (POP3) mail server. In Anent's case that is netgate.anent.com. Make sure that the POP3 radio button is selected. Go to Next
  
• Enter the name of the outgoing (SMTP) server. Again that is netgate.anent.com. Go to "Next" and click Finish."

You have now created a dominant personality in Eudora 4.0 and are in a mail window with an inbox, and outbox and a trash bin. The icons are, for the most part self-explanatory.

To create an additional "Personality" for a second mail account, go to "Tools," then to "Personalities." In the window, you will see the dominant "Personality." Right click the dominant "Personality" and go to "New." A wizard pops up. Configure it for your second (or third) account.
